Breaking News: Press Release from UKIP Thanet concerning Edi Truell and Manston Airport

Press Release from UKIP Thanet today (15th November 2016) regarding Edi Truell:

UKIP Thanet has read Edi Truell’s recent email with interest. The indication that there may be opportunity for long haul passenger flights to Manston gives a new perspective on potential uses for the site. We have asked our UKIP member of the East Kent Chamber of Commerce, Cllr George Rusiecki to discuss the detail of the proposal with Edi. However, Edi must first be able to buy the site at market price from the current owners. Edi previously withdrew his involvement with the CPO soft marketing exercise to do this, and without the agreement of the owners any proposal cannot proceed.

I always Knew that Passenger flights could be operated from Manston, Im just so surprised that there has been so much Bickering and delays, and that we could have had flights to the Middle East and Far East, to make the country more accessible to the rest of the world, at a fracture of the price that is charged at Heathrow or Gatwick, lets get going and Utilise this wonderful Airport, not to tear up the Runway and lay down 3000 homes that will just go to the Wealthy Londoners looking to downsize and put money into their accounts, while the Locals don’t have the work or money to buy one of these homes.
Manston Airport could employ up to 2000 people once it is in Operation, and increase that once more Flights and Operators come to the area.

barbob17@talktalk.net I totally agree with you MANSTON is an airport and should remain one
IT IS A SAFETY NET FOR PLANES TO LAND IN AN EMERGENCY !!!! It can be used for freight when the french strike at anytime thus negating any action . Any building works will only put money in greedy pockets and deluge the area with unwanted extras etc

The airport will provide decent well paid jobs which are at a premium in this area, were new housing will have no long term employment prospects, an airport will provide much needed links with the rest of the world avoiding lengthy and environmently damaging commutes to the London airports by people of east Kent.

I am so pleased to read that there is another aviation investor interested in Manston.I suppose KLM wouldnot come back because they must be too fed up by their previous experience when the airport was shut without warning. The flights to Schiphol were fantastic because they opened the world to Thanet and gave Kent another much nicer place to fly from. The long haul flights sound good too, Any way to reopen the airport sounds good to me. I personally do not care how it is done or which political party is involved. I am sure there are people from all of politics who can see the sense of the upgrading and reopening of regional airports for the benifit of the whole economy of the UK, and not just London.Lets hope Manston is the start.

I can’t find this press release on the TDC website. Have they removed it already?

It wasn’t a TDC press release – it was a UKIP press release via email.

Malcolm Montgomerie, Operations at MAK Aviation, London Elstree Aerodrome

This morning have been talking about Manston to an Easyjet pilot who is a keen light aircraft flyer. He knows Manston and commented it would be madness to let such a valuable asset be destroyed when houses could be built at other locations. He says from experience all the London airports are struggling to cope with the current number of flights, the third runway is a long way off and Manston could be an aviation safety valve. Safety should be paramount.

Please bring back our airport I am disabled and can’t stand the long journey to Gatwick all other regions have local airport why not Thanet. Why did Ann Gloag by an airport she didn’t want? Please bring back our Airport maybe the Red Arrows will return like the old times.
