Upcoming Thanet Local Plan Consultations 2017 – Have Your Say

This Friday, 20th January 2017, Thanet District Council open their 8 week Public Consultation of the draft Local Plan.

This is our chance as a community, as airport supporters, to have our say on SP05 the part of the plan which refers to the airport site.

Make sure your objections to ‘mixed development’ are clear, individual and unequivocal. Make sure you give reasoned and pertinent arguments for Manston to remain as an airport.

Visit the roadshows which will take place as follows:-

Saturday 28 January: 9am to 12pm, The Thanet Gateway, Cecil Street, Margate.

Friday 3 February: 9am to 12pm, The Kent Innovation Centre, Thanet Reach Business Park, Millennium Way, Broadstairs, CT10 2QQ.

Monday 6 February: 9am to 12pm & Tuesday 14 February: 1pm to 4.30pm, Custom House, Harbour Parade, Ramsgate, CT11 8LP.

Wednesday 15 February: 9am to 12pm, King Ethelbert’s School, Canterbury Rd, Birchington, CT7 9BL.

Friday 17 February: 1pm to 5pm, The Kent Innovation Centre.

Thursday 23 February: 5pm to 8pm, The Thanet Gateway.

If you can’t make the roadshows take part online instead.

You will need to register to comment. If you have already registered during a previous consultation just enter your username and password.

Go to: https://consult.thanet.gov.uk to make your comments.

Or you can download a paper copy and send completed comment forms to local.plans@thanet.gov.uk or Strategic Planning, Thanet District Council, PO Box 9, Cecil Street, Margate, Kent, CT9 1XZ.

This is the most appropriate and effective way of showing the Council that we, as a community, want an airport not housing at Manston.

I cannot understand that companies worth millions of pounds would put there money at risk if Manston Airport was not a viable venture.
It’s probably been said before, but i will say it again, yes, the plan for housing will create jobs, in the short term, the airport will secure jobs for the Long term!
what the council are missing is that if you build 2500 houses, where are the jobs coming from? no jobs, they will have a Very large housing benefits bill, not just for a few months, for the long term!
There must be other sites to build houses,
Anyone with a tiny bit of vision could see that Manston Airport Will be needed in the future, not only as a freight hub Airport but as a commercial/other Airport, once it has gone it’s gone. let there be NO more errors of judgement by TDC!
