Manston Airport plane-scrapping accident

There has been an industrial accident involving one male casualty at Manston Airport this afternoon.

The man, believed to have been part of the plane-breaking operation, was airlifted to hospital by the air ambulance. He is reported to have sustained a serious head injury. Fire and ambulance crews were also in attendance and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

Reports from ‘Kent 999s’ on Twitter suggest that the man was injured by an exploding grinder being used to scrap the aircraft.

Supporters of Manston Airport hope all those involved make a full recovery.
